Guardian: Dr. Bernie Fowler
Pet: Louie
Bio: Louie, an incredibly beautiful Lab mix was thrown out of a car on a highway in NJ. Left their to wander on his own, someone picked him up and brought him into a shelter. The Fowler family decided to adopt a dog, and visited the local shelter. When Bernie saw Louie (as he was already known) he knew he was something special. Instead of jumping all over, Louie hovered unsure of himself but wanting to show love. He kissed Bernie's hand and all was lost. Louie moved in the next day. He lived for 11 happy years with the Fowlers. Sadly, he passed away in Fall of 1998.

Pet: Puck
Bio: A crazy Jack Russell mix breed, Puck enjoys destroying blankets, hunting small animals and kicking various family member's out of their beds so that he can enjoy the warmth alone. Puck came to our family when his first guardian couldn't care for him. He's a welcome addition, although sometimes his brother, Guinness, disagrees.

Pet: Rufus
Bio: Rufus is a mixed breed from Colorado. He was found there with his brothers and sisters, moved across the country to the East coast and then adopted. Rufus used to love to chase all the animals in his big back yard but these days, he's happy to take it easy on the porch or on his dad's sailboat. Rufus would like to thank Mutt Monthly for asking him to contribute.

Pet: Guinness
Bio: Guinness is one of those dogs pegged to never leave the rescue shelter. Not even the volunteers would go in the cage with him. He was so skittish that he'd bite or growl if anyone came near. For the first few months we weren't sure if he'd be able to stay without doing something terrible. But after two years of love, I'm happy to say he's a dedicated member of the family. No one's heard him growl in a long time and he doesn't even mind when the kids want to cuddle up with him.
